Warehouse Storage Rack Options
Storage racks are important for any warehouse to utilize the space and store goods in a proper manner which would be easy for the retrieval of the goods. For storage warehouses many types of storage racks are available with different designs to fulfill specific functions or create specific advantages in the warehouse. When deciding on the type of storage rack to use, several basic considerations like desired storage density, height of building and available floor space, accessibility of inventory, load size and weight, optimum storage capacity, cost of material and installation have to be taken into account.
Depending on the factors above the storage rack options we can have for a storage warehouse are
Selective Storage Rack
These are most popularly used storage rack systems as they are inexpensive and quick and easy to assemble.
Structural Storage Rack
These storage racks can be designed in the structure of the building itself and are similar to the selective storage racks system with the only difference being the horizontal supports which are attached to the uprights to increase the weight bearing capacity.
Narrow Aisle Storage Racks
These are used with the selective storage system with the maximum space utilization within a storage facility. These systems typically operate in conjunction with wire-guided or rail-guided reach-truck systems.
Push-Back Storage Racks
This system of storage racks drastically reduces aisle space and increases storage capacity.
Rack Flow system
This system uses a slightly inclined conveyor that makes the racks or totes move easily along a sloped plane.
Drive in and Drive through system
These are storage rack options which allow the forklift to drive through the lanes.
